About Dr. Polahar

Family medicine and Integrative medicine

Dr. Dorothy Polahar is a board-certified physician in Family and Integrative Medicine, combining her Western  medical expertise with holistic healing techniques. She completed her Family Medicine residency at Maine-Dartmouth, where she also  trained in Integrative Medicine through the University of Arizona. Additionally, she deepened her knowledge by studying and practicing Traditional Chinese Acupuncture, expanding her ability to provide well-rounded, patient-centered care.

Before medical school, Dr. Polahar earned a master’s degree in Athletic Training and Sports Medicine. Her early exposure to Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy (OMT) sparked a lifelong passion for musculoskeletal health and functional healing. Dr. Polahar previously practiced at Inova Steinmetz Integrative and Functional Medicine in Alexandria, VA, where she worked alongside Dr. Sisu – her trusted colleague and friend. Together, they focused on restoring patients’ health through a Functional and Integrative Medicine approach. As the clinic’s Osteopathic physician, she specialized in using hands-on techniques to enhance the body’s natural ability to heal.

Dr. Polahar partners with her patients to develop personalized treatment plans tailored to their unique health needs. By integrating OMT, functional medicine, and holistic therapies, she helps patients achieve long-term wellness, better mobility, and lasting pain relief.
